My Position on the 2016 Presidential Election Part 2: The “Situation” and the “Issues”

Hillary Clinton
I know a lot more than you think I do. Anyone who assumes I am ignorant of Hillary Clinton’s life of scandals and the severity of each is flat out wrong. Do not tell me that voting “third-party” is a vote for Hillary, or that I’m simply clueless. I know a lot more about her than most of the people who accuse me of ignorance. But that is no reason for me to vote for Trump. Please keep reading.
Supreme Court Justices
One of the biggest arguments this election in favor of voting for Trump is that whoever the President is will likely get to “choose” the next few supreme court justices and that because justices are “in for life” we absolutely MUST settle for Trump for this election until we can get someone better. Otherwise, Hillary will load up the bench with liberals and there will never again be any hope for the free world because of the power of the Supreme Court’s “decisions.” I’m so sick of hearing this. I’ll demonstrate that no matter who is on the bench, restoring the Constitution and its checks and balances, which can actually be done very quickly if we focus our energy on things that actually matter, would void every concern regarding the Supreme Court.
- The President does not choose the Supreme Court justices. He simply nominates them. It’s the Senate that actually votes, and unfortunately, right now it’s you and me that choose the senators. So, you could actually say that in a round-about way, it’s we the people that choose the Supreme Court Justices. Let’s take some responsibility here.
- Justices are not supposed to be in for life. I don’t care what your high school AP Government teacher told you. The Constitution says they are in for “good behaviour” (US Constitution, Article 3, Section 1). That means they can absolutely be removed if we actually follow the Constitution, which I expect that we soon will.
- The Supreme Court has absolutely no law-making power and there are many ways we can override their “opinions” if we understand and apply the Constitution and use wisdom. So let’s say the Supreme Court rules all guns as unconstitutional and wants them rounded up. The Executive Branch is the one responsible for enforcing the law. Congress is responsible for providing provisions in the federal budget for enforcing the law. So if the Supreme Court wants to pass something that ridiculous, the president can simply choose not to enforce it. If he does choose to enforce it, Congress can deny any federal funding being spent towards that effort. That means 350,000,000+ guns are being confiscated from furious Americans by volunteers working for the federal government. If Congress, the executive branch, and the judicial branch are all in cahoots to take our guns, then we try to use the states and the article 5 convention to overrule those efforts. If the states won’t do it, then it becomes civil war. But, I have a better opinion of our country than that.
