My Position on the 2016 Presidential Election Introduction
ArcFires Admin • November 3, 2016
Dozens of people have asked about my position regarding this election, and almost none of my answers have been as complete or thorough as I would have liked. Here is an outline of the major things you must understand about my perspective to see why I will not vote for either of the two front-runners, and likely none of the candidates officially running.
C.S. Lewis said:
I feel a strong desire to tell you – and I expect you feel a strong desire to tell me – which of these two errors is the worse. That is the devil getting at us. He always sends errors into the world in pairs – pairs of opposites. And he always encourages us to spend a lot of time thinking which is the worse. You see why, of course? He relies on your extra dislike of the one error to draw you gradually into the opposite one. But do not let us be fooled. We have to keep our eyes on the goal and go straight through between both errors. We have no other concern than that with either of them.
(C.S. Lewis, “Mere Christianity,” Book 4, Chapter 6)
I could end this article on my position right there, but I know that won’t satisfy most people. I’ll explain in depth how I feel about certain issues about this race and why I’ve taken this position.
My entire position is built on the following convictions and principles:
- God has taught me how to vote and I will be held accountable. I consider voting for the “lesser” of two evils disobedience to God according to scripture. Voting my conscience is only truly honorable when my conscience is in harmony with His dictates.
- God will intervene on behalf of the righteous, when they obey his laws.
- We cannot separate the temporal from the spiritual, meaning that religious principle should guide all civil and social activities.
- America and her Constitution will be saved according to prophecy. Christ DOES NOT save us from political strife when He returns. Prophecy says that the land is healed prior to His coming. Ushering in the millennium is a team effort between Christ and His people, and we can’t avoid our responsibility to fight for liberty.
- I believe Hillary is guilty of countless intentional criminal offenses and is only fit for prison. I also believe she is a disciple of Saul Alinsky and has a treasonous, subversive agenda of globalization. However, I believe her being elected could actually be the best thing that could happen to America this election, prior to the healing of this land. Read this article to find out why.
- Trump has never proven himself to be conservative or “anti-establishment.” In fact, he has demonstrated the opposite.
- Trump is immoral and shows a flagrant disregard for the values and principles that I expect of the POTUS.
- Even if Trump was a conservative who was willing to resist the establishment, I honestly don’t believe we would survive. I believe God would protect him if he was keeping the commandments and being a God-fearing man, but Trump misses that one by a long shot. God is just, and his blessings are predicated upon obedience to law.
- The “establishment” is already in control. It makes little difference who becomes the President until we heal the Constitution. Obviously, I would want to elect a Constitutional candidate who can help with the healing process. Neither front-runner is prepared for this or even interested in doing this. To be discussed further.
- The Supreme Court Justice issue is widely misunderstood and overhyped.
In advance, I would like to thank all those who are willing to hear me out on each of these points before condemning my position. I know how much self-control and maturity that takes. I will dive into some of these in a lot of depth in this article. Some of the topics will only be lightly addressed and reserved for other articles. Generally, these are the things that I think other people would also need to believe in order to hold the same position that I do. If you have already become irate or have lost control of your emotions in any way by reading this introduction, I’d recommend you don’t read the rest.
